The 2026 Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Oakley Wood was held on Monday 27th April in Barford Memorial Hall.
Our chairman Liz Sheehan welcomed everyone and gave a summary of the past year’s activities. She once again thanked Rod Scott for his services as our former Treasurer, and introduced Sean Deeley who has taken over this role on the committee. Sean and Rod have worked together to overcome the seemingly endless hurdles that exist to change this financial role. Well done to both.
Liz summarised the year’s activities, which included a repeat of last year’s successful fungi walk, this time in September, and was again led by our favorite fungi experts, Fran Verenciano and Dave Champion. See the draft minutes attached below for a full report of the meeting.
Our WWT Reserves Manager, Nick Martin, has become a bit of a fixture at our AGMs with his talks about wildlife, and this year was no exception. Nick presented to us on the subject of “The Secrets of a Wildlife Photographer”, and we learned that not only does he have an encyclopedic knowledge of wildlife (we did already know this) but he’s an accomplished wildlife photographer, and illustrated his slides with many examples of his work. An enthralling and very well received talk. We thank Nick for taking the time to speak to us and foregoing his normal professional fees!
The Draft minutes of the AGM of 31 March 2025 were approved.
