History

The Friends of Oakley Wood was originally set up in 2007 when Oakley Wood was put up for sale by its previous owners. There had long been informal access to the wood and many of the regular visitors were concerned that a new owner might put a stop to this. They came together to form the Friends of Oakley Wood and campaign for the woodland to be brought into public ownership.

The campaign was a success and the woodland was purchased by Warwick District Council in 2008. Since then, the Friends of Oakley Wood have continued to work with the owners and managers of the wood to ensure its future as a vibrant asset for the community at large.
